Governor Kathleen Sebelius to Be Named Secretary of Health and Human Services.
President Obama has chosen Kathleen Sebelius, Governor of Kansas, for Secretary of Health and Human Services.
I am deeply glad the President has chosen Governor Sebelius to be in his cabinet. (Even while it's a blow for Kansas, who needs a good leader right now more than ever, given the state's current economic woes, and the gaggle of Republicans hanging about in the state legislature who continue to insist the children of Kansas never hear about the miracle of science, etc.)
I'll allow one of my fellow MOMocrats to better unpack the reasons why the Governor is a super-savvy pick for the role. I merely wanted to mark the moment, because she is, after all, an honorary MOMocrat, as revealed to MOMocrats Glennia and Sarah, when they had the opportunity to meet and speak with her last year.
Congratulations, Governor Sebelius. We here at the MOMocrats are fiercely proud of your work as a public servant, and look forward to the good you'll do as a member of our new president's cabinet.

I am so happy that President Obama selected Governor Kathleen Sebelius to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. Originally, I wanted to see her as Veep, but the anger that was perceived to come if the 1st woman Veep wasn't Hillary was downright ugly, remember? Then, there was the matter of military experience which did away with Sebelius and Hillary...and brought us the fabulous Joe Biden. A few of my friends are upset because it was not Howard Dean that got the green light for HHS. I like Sebelius, myself...but I really do wonder what happened between Dr, Dean and President Obama. Perhaps Dr. Dean could become the Surgeon General?

So glad to hear this. She sounds as if she is very qualified and will be a lot less beholden to special interests than Tom Daschle was.

I'm sad to lose her as my governor, but we were going to lose her in 2010 anyway.
Honestly, if we have to lose her anywhere, I would prefer it to be in a position in which she will be appointed.
The bad news is now the Republicans will think they ran her off. They already tried to hold state worker's wages hostage, along with state tax returns because she wouldn't bend to their will on the budget.

Yay! A woman not afraid to show her wisdom AND her natural haircolor!

Hm. I still think that it should have been Howard Dean, but I like Governor Sebelius, and I am sure that she will do a fine job.
